Hail to Our Politicians

Hi friends,
This is my first blog on the virtual world of internet. Infact, what made me to start blogging is a very common cause which we as normal citizens come across quite often - Our Politicians.
I belong to Panchkula city which is the close vicinity of Chandigarh - the City Beautiful on Indian map. August 20 - the brithday of our late Prime Minister - Sh. Rajiv Gandhi is celebrated as Rajiv Urja Yojana Diwas.
This time it was the turn of Panchkula people to face the wrath of the Politicians & the Police. Its not that I am against such Yojana or Rallies. But let me explain you the situation, which we as general public had to suffer due to this Yojana which is meant for the benefit of the public.
A Rally was organized on this occasion. Students from various schools of various cities of Haryana & Chandigarh participated in this rally. The rally was to start from Olympic Bhawan in Sector 3 and end up at Indradhanush Auditorium in Sector 5 (this is what I came to know about). And our respected leader - Ms. Sonia Gandhi was to flag off this Rally. For this purpose she was supposed to be at Olympic Bhawan at the start time and then to receive the participants at Indradhanush Auditorium as the destination.
Since she is among the top leaders of our nation, our WORTHY Haryana Police had blocked all the roads on this route. What to talk about commuting through two wheeler / three wheeler or four wheeler, even the people were not allowed to walk on the road. Since I am an office goer and my son who is a school goer, we had to face a lot of problem that day.
We were in a three wheeler and all the entry points from Zirakpur towards Panchkula were sealed by the Police. Infact, when we asked few of them as from where can we reach our destination, everyone of them suggested a different route which was also sealed at the end.
Atlast I had to walk almost for 20 - 25 minutes to reach my destination and during that also one Constable on duty on the road adviced me to wait for few minutes as VIP vehicles carrying our esteemed Politicans were to pass from that road. I would say a big HUH! for this.
I had to leave my son at my parents' place that day as he was way too late for his school. I reached office around 11:00 am instead of my office timing which is 9:30 a.m. So, the birth anniversary of Sh. Rajiv Gandhi whom I had always considered to be among a few good leaders we had, did not leave good memories with me.
Why dont our Politicians and Bureaucrats understand that such Rallies or Yojanas dont help them in gaining public' support. Infact, incase they would have done something else like opening up of free dispensaries / free toilets with the same budget, that would have gained them some public support and infact would have added votes to their vote bank also.
WHY SHOULD WE (THE GENERAL PUBLIC) MADE TO SUFFER INCASE A POLITICIAN IS VISITING A CITY??
